Older Individuals who are Blind (OIB)
Older Individuals who are Blind, or OIB is Wayfinder’s first program for seniors with vision loss. Vision loss in older adults can reduce their ability to care for themselves, live independently and navigate their community. Wayfinder is providing adults ages 55+ who are visually impaired with training in areas like the use of assistive technology, orientation and mobility to get around in their communities, and more. Each client receives one-to-one instruction that is based on their individualized service plan. This may also include small group trainings and virtual visits.
Services will be offered at community-based locations throughout Los Angeles County, including at home, senior and community centers and our main campus in Los Angeles. This program is also available to some individuals under the age of 55. Please contact us for more information.
Register now for our Community Resource Fair For Blind and Visually Impaired on August 16 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at our Los Angeles campus.
