As the assistive technology coordinator at Wayfinder Family Services, Maria Del Carmen Herrera works closely with adults who are blind or visually impaired to assess their technology needs and pair them with the Wayfinder program that will best help them reach their goals. She is the liaison between Wayfinder and the California Department of Rehabilitation to provide timely reporting on students’ progress as it relates to their individual cases.

Herrera graduated from our Davidson Program for Independence in 2009. She then was an independent service provider for the Department of Rehabilitation in El Centro, California, before returning to Wayfinder in 2012 as an assistive technology instructor. Herrera completed the assistive technology applications certification program at California State University, Northridge.

Herrera received her bachelor’s degrees in psychology and Spanish from San Diego State University and earned an associate’s degree in behavior science.
