Participants must be approved through their Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) counselor.
Participants must fill out an online application packet
Participants must be blind or visually impaired and between the ages of 16–21.
Participants may be asked to complete additional intake, health, or program documentation prior to participation.
Participants must have a current Tuberculosis (TB) screening test.
Participants age 18 and older may be required to complete a background check depending on program responsibilities

Wayfinder’s Camp to Career Transition Program helps blind and visually impaired students ages 16–21 prepare for college, employment, and greater independence.
The summer program uses a two-phase model that combines real-world work-based learning with structured transition and independent living instruction through both residential camp experiences and campus-based workshops.
During the summer camp phase, participants join Wayfinder’s Counselors-in-Training (CIT) program at Camp Bloomfield, where they gain hands-on experience while building workplace readiness, communication, leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and self-advocacy skills through supervised responsibilities and mentorship.
The second phase takes place at Wayfinder’s Los Angeles campus and focuses on employment preparation, assistive technology, postsecondary planning, independent living skills, orientation and mobility readiness, Braille-based organization systems where appropriate, and transition planning for life after high school.
Participants receive guidance and mentorship from qualified Wayfinder staff, along with workshops and instruction that may include vetted guest professionals and instructors, while building confidence, independence, and practical skills for adulthood.
Students who successfully complete the program may also be encouraged to apply for future paid seasonal staff opportunities with Camp Bloomfield, helping create a pathway from participant to leader and future employee.
