Tell us about summer at Wayfinder.
Our life-changing programs and services don’t stop during the summer. In fact, many are at their peak, such as our camp and recreation programs. I want to tell you about some of the children, youth and adults in these programs. This is Wayfinder in action:
- A young woman who first came to Camp Bloomfield as a lonely teenager, having recently lost her vision, has blossomed into a confident Camp Bloomfield counselor.
- An eight-year-old boy who has been in foster care since he was a baby has been reunited with his grandmother and father, thanks to our relentless staff.
- Valentina attended summer school for the first time at our Special Education School. Her mom loves seeing her come home happy and is relieved that Valentina has found a place where she truly thrives.
- A single mom who recently lost her vision learned braille in our Davidson Program for Independence, so she can continue to bond over books with her teenage son.
Thanks to our leadership, staff, donors and partners, these individuals had life-defining moments that will carry them into the future. There are so many more who need our help, and I am grateful to have your support!
I have a donor-advised fund. Is that a good way to support Wayfinder?
Yes. We have seen a growing number of our donors choose this route, and it’s easy to understand why. Donor-advised funds (DAFs) now account for roughly 15% of all charitable giving nationally, and many donors find that once they begin giving this way, they’re able to give more consistently and more generously to the causes they care about.
It’s also one of the simplest ways to give. If you already have a DAF, there’s no check to write and no new paperwork. Just log in to your fund sponsor’s website, search for us by our legal name, Wayfinder Family Services, and recommend the grant.
For your convenience, you can also start your gift directly at wayfinderfamily.org/daf.
