What is a Qualified Charitable Distribution?
If you are age 70 ½ or older and own a Roth or traditional IRA, you can take advantage of the Charitable IRA “Rollover” or “Qualified Charitable Distribution” (QCD). This provision allows you to use your required minimum distribution—or up to $100,000 per IRA owner—to support Wayfinder, while bypassing your gross income. This method can be even more beneficial than a standard charitable deduction!
Benefits of a QCD
- Supports Wayfinder’s Mission: Your contribution aids Wayfinder in its commitment to providing support for children, youth, and adults facing challenges.
- Fulfills RMD Requirements: The amount donated counts toward your required minimum distribution for the year.
- Reduces Taxable Income: Lower your adjusted gross income by making a direct contribution from your IRA.
How to Make a QCD to Wayfinder
Making a qualified charitable distribution to Wayfinder is straightforward:
- Online: Visit wayfinderfamily.org/qcd to start the process through our partnership with Giving Docs.
- Through Your IRA Manager: Contact your IRA manager and request that a distribution be made directly to Wayfinder.
