A passion for community
Lisa Travis is a new member of our Community Council in Sacramento. She’s the County Counsel of Sacramento, providing legal advice to the County. Her office represents Sacramento County’s Child Protective Services, so she understands the importance of the work that Wayfinder does for children in the community.
Her mother set an example for public service, having served as the City Manager of a small city on the Central Coast as a Rotarian. It’s not surprising then, that after law school, Lisa chose a career in government herself.
Lisa finds her work both intellectually exciting and emotionally difficult, but she loves it. She also makes room for volunteering. “I’ve always done a lot of volunteer work even as a student in high school, in the 4H Citizenship Project and through other organizations. When my kids were in school, I was a room parent in elementary school and President of the PTSA in middle school. Later, I served as the chair of the Christian Brothers High School auction, raising funds for education and needs based tuition assistance.”
“I get great personal enjoyment from volunteering. It’s just always been part of who I am.”
Two friends, one who works with Wayfinder and another a Community Council member, suggested she join the Community Council. Lisa was happy to say yes. “The mission and the people there drew me in.”
Lisa also loves to travel. She’s been to every state, except North Dakota and Minnesota, and plans to remedy that in 2026.
Most of all, Lisa has a passion for community and is excited by what she can bring to the Community Council.
