The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health in partnership with Wayfinder Family Services is seeking individuals who are a part of the Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, and/or physically disabled communities or are a family member or caregiver for someone who is. They will attend a one-day training in mental health topics and provide two to three community presentations. Participants will be eligible to receive a stipend of up to $125.00 for their time.
The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health in partnership with Wayfinder Family Services is seeking community members to attend a one-day training in mental health topics and provide 2 to 3 community presentations. Participants will be eligible to receive a stipend of up to $125.00 for their time.
Participants will attend a one-day training which will provide information on:
- Basic Mental Health Education
- Crisis Identification/Resolution
- The Power of Self-Advocacy
- Community Outreach Strategies
- Storytelling and Public Speaking
- Accessing Mental Health Services
After the training, participants of this project will provide 2-3 community mental health presentations in their home communities to individuals who could benefit from learning about mental health, and accessing mental health services. Training and support for providing community mental health presentations will be provided! Potential groups for community mental health presentations could include:
- Community town hall meetings
- Parent/Teacher or Student Associations
- Religious groups
- Volunteer or civic groups
- Neighborhood councils
