Q&A with Jay Allen President & CEO – Wayfinder Family Services – Fall 2025

Wayfinder Family Services President & CEO

Tell us about the summer at Wayfinder.

I want to share what children, youth, adults and families have gained this summer. This is what our donors and volunteers make possible throughout the year. I am so grateful to our supporters who continue to make Wayfinder moments possible.

Sun, sand, surf and sports

Our recreation program empowered children, youth and adults through adaptive sports and activities like surfing, deep sea fishing, goal ball and more!

Independence and inclusion

Camp Bloomfield created more magical memories and connections for campers this year through four sessions. Children, youth and adults with visual impairment or multiple disabilities and their families are forever changed thanks to camp!

Pride, growth and learning

Our Transition Services summer program guided students ages 16-21 through a national curriculum
for youth with visual impairment, focusing on job skills, self-advocacy, career exploration, independent living and more! Participants lived on the Cal State University Los Angeles campus for the four-week program, fully immersed in the innovative curriculum and leaning into independent living!

Generous donors across the state delivered more than 600 backpacks filled to the brim with school supplies for the children in our programs, from those in foster or kinship care to those receiving our mental health services, and so many more. Thanks to our back to school drive, students are starting the year proud, prepared and eager to learn!
