Meet Cassady Nevarez, Member of the Community Council

Influencing Young Lives

Cassady Nevarez has dedicated her life making a difference in the lives of children, so it’s no surprise that a connection to fellow Community Council member, Jade Pillsbury, led her to be the newest member of Wayfinder’s Community Council.

“We moved to Roseville, California in February and Jade was our real estate agent,” says Cassady. “She knew about my desire to influence young people’s lives and create more equity and I knew she had fostered and adopted children – her story really resonated with us.”

Cassady began her career as a junior high school teacher and she also mentored children as a volleyball coach. After nearly seven years of teaching, she went on to work in nonprofit fundraising for children’s healthcare and education.

“I’ve always stayed connected to young people where I could make an impact in their lives in one way or another,” says Cassady. After her husband’s job brought them to the Sacramento area earlier this year, she decided to launch Lumax Consulting, her own nonprofit consulting firm focused on grantwriting, event strategy and video production for nonprofit organizations.

Cassady and her husband, Jose, love exploring their new city with their two aussiedoodles, Lu and Max. She says she’s excited to bring her experience, energy and commitment to equity‑centered, community‑driven work to the Community Council. “I’m looking forward to connecting with everyone involved – everybody is bringing something different to the table,” she says.
